Recreation Ground – Vehicle Access Gates

Residents may be aware that there have been several incidents of anti-social behaviour, criminal damage, theft and burglary on the recreation ground during the Summer. The Parish Council received advice from the Police leading Councillors to close the vehicle access gates as an emergency measure.

The Council met on Monday 24th August 2020 and received representations from the Allotments Association and local residents before resolving that the vehicle gates will remain open from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. They will remain locked at all other times. The Council will review the situation at future Council meetings.

The pedestrian gate adjacent to the large vehicle gate will remain unlocked at all times.

The majority of visitors using the car park after 6pm are not residents, but Councillors regret any inconvenience to the small number of Shustoke residents who might wish to park at the Recreation Ground outside the gate-opening times.
